Why shingles go missing
- High wind events — common around the valley, especially in Livingston
- Aging shingles where the seal strips have worn out
- Hail impact that loosens edges without fully removing the shingle right away
Why it's worth fixing quickly
One missing shingle is a small repair. Three months of rain and snow getting under that gap is not. We prioritize these calls because the fix is fast and the alternative — a soaked roof deck or a ceiling leak — isn't.
How we fix it
We match the replacement shingles to your existing roof as closely as possible, check the surrounding shingles and flashing for related damage while we're up there, and make sure the repair is sealed properly against wind — not just nailed down.
Common questions
Can I just replace a few shingles myself?+
You can, but matching the color and seal strip of existing shingles is harder than it looks. And if the underlayment or decking underneath is already wet, nailing new shingles over it just hides the problem. We check the whole area while we're up there.
Will the new shingles match my existing roof?+
We match the replacement shingles to your existing roof as closely as possible — same manufacturer, same color line, same style. On older roofs there may be some fading, but we get it close enough that you won't notice from the ground.
How fast can you fix missing shingles?+
Most Bozeman, Belgrade, and Four Corners calls get on the schedule within a few days. If it's an active leak during a storm, call us — we'll come tarp it.
Is this covered by insurance?+
If the missing shingles were caused by a covered storm or wind event, insurance often pays for the repair. We document everything with photos so you have what you need to file.
